Hi y’all,
My week in review is a bit later than normal due to a busy week. I had a pretty low-key pre-Peachtree week. I took it pretty easy, partly because it was pre-Peachtree and partly because my hip flexor told me to take it easy. I needed to focus more on stretching and keeping loose. Luckily, the extra rest and stretching did the trick.
Monday: ART
I had my regularly scheduled ART appointment at Well Body Basics. Donna worked on everything. She always asks me what going on. Sometimes I have some things and other times I’m non-specific. The best part about her magic is that she will work on the things I name. But she also finds those forgotten places that need work too. She also de-codes what needs work based on my brief descriptions of my week and workouts.
Tuesday: FitWit
I decided to go to FitWit instead of Cyclebar this week. It wasn’t an easy one but I felt great after I got done. I conquered the Blue Level workout in 22 minutes!
Wednesday: In-Training Mid-Week
We had our last mid-week practice. I stretched as per usual. The participants were in good spirits. For a few weeks, I’ll be doing different things on Wednesdays, but I think I will keep with the extra stretching on Wednesdays.
Thursday: FitWit Newbie Re-Assessment
So, my 6-month mark of my FitWit Live Fit year is here. I decided to re-take the newbie assessment since I had not re-tested since January. The workout was 200 single jump ropes, 2 rounds of 10 push-ups, 15 squats, and 20 sit-ups finished with 200 single jump ropes. I finished it in 16 minutes and 24 seconds. I took off more than 3 minutes off my time!
Friday: Masters Nationals Field Practice
As I mentioned last week, I am participating in USATF Masters National Track & Field Championships next week. I am registered for 200M, 400M, Shot Put, Discus, and Javelin. Since I hadn’t done discus since I was a kid at track camp (nope still wasn’t athletic but my sister went and my mom had a single pick-up/drop off rule…), I wanted to practice some.

We met and got in some practice of both the discus and shot put. Not only that, we confirmed that long jump is not my event. I can’t wait to go to Baton Rouge and be so far out of my comfort zone!!
Saturday: Last In-Training
The last In-Training Saturday practice was a fun time. I foam rolled and stretched while the participants and other run leads were out on the course. My hip flexor was still asking for some TLC. Tyler at Big PEacch Running Company suggested that I foam roll. I’m so glad I listened. My hip finally decided it was happy to contribute silently to my daily activities…like walking!
Sunday: Run Fast, Eat Slow Event & Kilometer Kids Chase Part I
The Run Fast, Eat Slow event was great. I got to meet the authors and hear the book’s birth story. I’m looking to focus on nutrition for the second half of the year. It was a perfectly timed event. IF you want to follow along with my journey using Run Fast, Eat Slow, I’ll be updating this post here.
Following the event, I began my participation in the Kilometer Kids Charity Chase to raise fund to revitalize the 1996 Olympic warm-up track. I volunteered as booth support from 9 pm until 12 midnight. If you want to support this effort, you can text “KKCC” to 444-999 to donate before July 15th, 2017.
A low-key week allowed me to prepare for the craziness of the following week including the AJC Peachtree Road Race. Sometimes, it’s important to rest a bit and listen to your body.
Telling you to take the time to hear what your body is telling you #onestepatatime,
TJ
